AmplifyME: Empowering Women And Helping STEM Students Break Into Finance
As a recruitment partner to a variety of financial institutions across the industry, from Hedge Funds to Investment Banks to Asset Managers, the growing challenge that unites them all is the attraction and recruitment of quality women candidates, specifically STEM students.
With more financial companies identifying as tech companies, STEM professionals are playing a crucial role. The challenge for institutions in attracting and placing these candidates is two-fold: supply and suitability.
With an already small and competitive talent pool of women who may not have necessarily studied a finance-related subject at school or university, there is likely to be an absence of understanding, not just of the industry, but also of the different roles within it. Candidates may also possess preconceived ideas and misconceptions that impact their confidence in their own ability and suitability.
In general, women are still underrepresented in the industry, and whilst Institutions have developed initiatives to change this, it's difficult for both the employer and the candidate to ensure long-term suitability pre-hire. This issue, compounded by the struggle felt by some to navigate a male-dominated environment, can result in performance issues and higher attrition rates. In these scenarios, everyone loses, especially those without a finance-focused educational background.

How we're tackling these challenges head-on at AmplifyME
Our mission is to create a level playing field by challenging preconceptions of the industry and, more importantly, shedding light on the day-to-day roles in markets, banking, and quantitative finance through our fully assessed, immersive simulation experiences.
Joanna Myslinska, a Science graduate, is one of the 30 women who took part in the Programme and saw her understanding and perceptions of the industry transform across the three weeks:
We have a total pipeline of more than 30K women who’ve completed at least one of our simulations and for the first time ever, we selected and sponsored 30 women for simulation-based training at the highest level through our renowned Summer Analyst Training Programme.
These candidates, who come from a mix of backgrounds, were rotated through 12 different roles, allowing us to test their abilities and evaluate their performance at each turn.
This level of training, assessment and mentoring is unprecedented and at no cost to the women themselves.
