University of Bath: Empowering Students Through AmplifyME Simulations
A Partnership Rooted in Practical Learning
Back in 2016, when we first partnered with the University of Bath, the goal was clear: to provide postgraduate students with practical, market-relevant experiences in preparation for placements and careers in the competitive financial sector. Kirsten Brown, Placements Manager at the time, explained:
"As a placements team, we’re always looking at ways in which we can provide our students with market-relevant skills and experience. The financial sector is particularly competitive, and we are keen to ensure that University of Bath students are standing out to potential employers for both placement opportunities and graduate roles."
Together with Kirsten and her team, we developed a two-day workshop tailored to postgraduate students specialising in Asset Management and Sales & Trading. These sessions offered an immersive, hands-on experience, simulating real-world roles within these divisions.
One of the standout success stories from this initiative is Annabel Griesmeyer, then a third-year Chemistry student. Annabel credits the AmplifyME experience for giving her clarity on her career direction and helping her secure a summer internship at BlackRock. She shared:

Building a Hands-On Simulation Experience
Together with Kirsten and her team, we developed a two-day workshop tailored to postgraduate students specialising in Asset Management and Sales & Trading. These sessions offered an immersive, hands-on experience, simulating real-world roles within these divisions.
One of the standout success stories from this initiative is Annabel Griesmeyer, then a third-year Chemistry student. Annabel credits the AmplifyME experience for giving her clarity on her career direction and helping her secure a summer internship at BlackRock. She shared:
"In just two days, I learned to manage risks, understand market drivers, and connect economic factors to investor behaviour—all through hands-on simulations that felt exciting and real. AmplifyME gave me the confidence to shine in my BlackRock interview. By trying out different roles, I discovered my fit in sales, and knew exactly how to communicate that. For someone like me, with a limited finance background, it was the perfect way to explore the industry, try different roles, and see where I belong."
A Long-Standing Collaboration
Since that first workshop, our partnership with the University of Bath has flourished. Over the past nine years, we’ve continued to embed practical experiences into their curriculum, enabling students to bridge the gap between theory and practice. These simulations now cover a wide range of finance topics, including M&A, IPOs, asset management, trading, ESG, and live buy-side competitions. Delivered both on-campus and online, these programs have proven invaluable for enhancing employability outcomes.Matthew Lewis, Careers & External Engagement Lead at the University of Bath, highlights the impact:
"Our partnership with AmplifyME has been invaluable in aligning with our mission to immerse students in real-world learning. The high-quality simulations they deliver provide our students with tangible, hands-on experiences that bring the financial sector to life in ways that traditional methods simply can’t.
One of the key challenges AmplifyME has helped us address is identifying clear career progression paths for High Potential Candidates (HPCs). Their work, especially with our postgraduate students, has resulted in compelling success stories - students who have leveraged these experiences to secure top roles in the industry.
Working with the AmplifyME team has always been a positive experience. They are responsive, professional, and committed to continual improvement, particularly when it comes to making careers in finance more accessible and understandable for students from diverse backgrounds.
I have watched our students gain real insights into the careers available in the Finance sector and how theory is embedded through skills acquisition made possible by immersive, realistic trading simulations. Great things happen when talent meets opportunity!
The impact on our students has been transformative. When they can ‘touch, taste, and feel’ what these roles are like - rather than just reading about them - they gain clarity and confidence in setting their career direction. This leads to more intrinsically motivated students who are better equipped to pursue fulfilling careers.”
— Matthew Lewis, Careers & External Engagement Lead, University of Bath
