Diversity in Action: AmplifyME’s Trading Simulation Connects Trafigura with Top Female Talent for Future Growth
The Challenge
Trafigura aimed to diversify its workforce by tapping into AmplifyME’s extensive network of young female talent for their 2025 early-careers programme. In August, we partnered to unveil the fast-paced world of commodity trading, spotlight Trafigura’s career opportunities and unique culture, and introduce their female leaders to potential recruits.
The Solution
We crafted an immersive virtual event targeting female undergraduates and recent graduates, featuring a hands-on natural gas trading simulation. The goal was to introduce commodity trading as a dynamic career option, allowing participants to experience the excitement and challenges of real-time trading.
Using AmplifyME’s advanced trading simulation, participants dove into real-time commodity trading, making strategic decisions based on live market trends and global events. They also had the chance to network with Trafigura’s senior female leaders—including COO Emma Stroud, Global Head of Talent Acquisition Olivia Higgins, and Talent Specialist Léa Coulet—who shared career insights and why Trafigura is a standout place to launch a career.
The Outcome
Over 200 women attended, completing a simulation that mirrored real-world market conditions and gaining a deeper understanding of the complexities of commodities markets. AmplifyME’s CEO, Will de Lucy, provided guidance throughout the session, creating an engaging experience that highlighted the excitement of physical commodity trading and supply chain management.
Trafigura’s senior leaders played a key role in the session, giving students an inspiring look into the sector. Olivia Higgins, Global Head of Talent Acquisition, reflected on the event:
“Our partnership with AmplifyME has helped us to further connect with young female talent coming out of university and showcase the many exciting career paths available within Trafigura. We are keen to challenge the traditional perception of commodities as a male-dominated field and underscore Trafigura’s commitment to gender diversity. It was a fantastic session, with great engagement from all who attended, and we look forward to further collaborations with AmplifyME as we continue to inspire the next generation of female talent together.”
The event boosted brand awareness while highlighting the qualities Trafigura seeks in graduates—beyond technical skills, focusing on leadership, adaptability, and a passion for global markets. Though not solely recruitment-focused, once performance was analysed, we shared the top ten performers with the Trafigura team.
