“AmplifyME showed me how much I didn’t know” — From Warwick to Summer Analyst at BNP Paribas

Rachel Aspinall, 07 May 2026

When Junsu Lim joined AmplifyME’s Summer Analyst Training Programme, he already had impressive experience under his belt.

A Management with Finance student at Warwick Business School, Junsu had secured spring internships with both BNP Paribas Sales & Trading and HSBC Asset Management, later converting the BNP Paribas opportunity into a Summer Analyst role within Global Markets.

But despite those early successes, he recognised there was still a major gap between securing an internship and being genuinely prepared to contribute within a high-performance finance environment.

“To be honest, I was over-confident before the programme,” Junsu explains. “The key challenge I faced was steepening my learning curve, as I was nowhere close to contributing to the team meaningfully at the time.”

Junsu joined AmplifyME after hearing about the Programme through his network and the strong reputation it had built within trading circles.

“A few people I knew referred to the AmplifyME programme as the summer internship preparation programme. I learned about the great reputation of AmplifyME within the trading circle.”

One of the biggest moments for Junsu came during a three-week futures trading challenge, where he competed against more than 100 peers while taking both macro trading and pair trading positions.

While some trades performed well, the experience gave him something even more valuable than short-term success: perspective.

“My key takeaway was about how much I didn’t know,” he says. “Knowing my limitations and what I don’t know was one of the most important things I gained from the programme.”

Rather than simply teaching technical concepts, the programme helped Junsu better understand his strengths, weaknesses and long-term direction within finance.

Today, Junsu is continuing his career journey with KKR Private Credit while exploring long-term opportunities across investment banking, asset management, equity research and credit research.

He still describes AmplifyME as an important launchpad in that process, not only for the technical learning, but also for the network and relationships built during the experience.

“AmplifyME was a great launch pad, and I still keep in touch with some of my peers from the programme.”

For students considering the programme, Junsu believes one of the biggest challenges in finance is not realising how much there still is to learn, and that practical experience is one of the fastest ways to accelerate that growth.

“The AmplifyME Programme with experienced ex-trader mentors and peers helps identify what you like, what you don’t like, what you can improve, and what you may be naturally good at. Even if you face setbacks such as rejections or losing competitions, don’t worry. Everything is part of the learning curve, and you will catch up.”
