Meet Amna Qamar, a female student from Huddersfield, studying mathematics and actuarial science at uni. Not the background of your typical racing car driver!

We first met Amna as a candidate on our Summer Analyst Training Programme. Like many students, Amna doesn't attend a target university and has no real experience in finance, and so sort other means to gain skills and bulk up her credentials.

Here's what Amna had to say about her time on the programme.

"Amplify has completely changed my outlook on my degree, future career path and overall goals. Watching and learning from the amazing mentors on the summer analyst programme gave me the confidence to pursue my goals without hesitation".

It is at this point we reconnect with Amna.

Her new goal? Winning the Formula Woman competition and then competing in the British Indoor Karting Championship, working on securing a seat in the Karting Rotax Championship and hoping to race in the British Touring Car Championship.

Here's an interview with Amna on the BBC that aired in February.
The dream? To one day become secure a seat on a Formula 1 team. But the challenge here is much bigger.

Despite Sir Lewis Hamilton being one of the most successful and recognisable names in motor racing, diversity in the sport is severely lacking. For Amna, being female is not the only chicane to navigate. She is also muslim, of south asian desent, and comes from a working class background from the North of England.

Below is a conversation I had with Amna about these challenges and her ambition to make a difference.
